Citizen watches were originally founded by the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918. Their name originated from a pocket watch that was mass produced in 1924.
This name was chosen as the founding fathers wanted the brand to be ‘Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere’.
Today Citizen is the worlds largest watch producer with over sixteen thousand employees and an annual turnover of around 2.7 million dollars.
